Hose Handling

Here is a short video that you can use to supplement your training for hose handling. This seems like really simple stuff, but, it is performed wrong frequently.

Take the time to go over these techniques with your crew. If you cannot handle the hose, you will have difficulties getting the “wet stuff on the hot stuff” because you are fighting the hose line.

Take care and train hard.

Wow, I clicked a link to see what was going on with hose handling and found myself.

That is a smattering of what was coached that day, but suffice it to say nothing I show is new or complex. I have sought out folks that are really good at their jobs and tried to model myself after them. The class that this is an vido clip of is called “the Nozzle Forward.”

The class is focused around bread and butter engine company techniques and tactics, including some fire behavior. There is a bunch more video that we are working to edit down. I am happy to share.

If there are any questions I am happy to be reached at batakhan@speakeasy.net or afields@seattle.gov

    Do good work,
